Q: When are we moving?

A: Our last Sunday gathering at Mt. Olive Middle School will be Sunday, February 23rd at 10:00am. Our first Sunday gathering at Mt. Olive Community Bible Church will be Sunday, March 2nd at 9:00AM.

Q: Where are we moving to?

A: We’re headed to Mt. Olive Community Bible Church, located at 200 Flanders-Drakestown Road in Flanders. (Your GPS might say Mt. Olive or Budd Lake.) If you’ve been joining us at Mt. Olive Middle School, it’s right across the street.

 

Q: Will our services still be streamed live online?

A: Yes! You will still be able to stream our services live on our YouTube channel.

Q: What programs will be available for kids?

A: Our Commonplace Kids programs will take place during service via our Explorers (Pre-K), Pathfinders (K-2nd) & Adventurers (3rd-4th) classes downstairs. There will be some changes to our check-in process:

Explorers (Up to Age 4)

  • Children can be checked in at the check-in station upon arrival and brought to the nursery. Parents/guardians are asked to pick them up promptly at the conclusion of service.

Pathfinders & Adventurers (Grades K-4)

  • After stopping by the check-in station, children are invited to join us in the sanctuary for opening worship. They will be dismissed with their teachers during the announcements.

  • Please note: Children will no longer be dismissed by their teachers to join for closing worship. Instead, we ask that all children be picked up by a parent/guardian at the conclusion of service.

Q: What other changes can I expect with this move?

A: Our Commonplace Kids programs will take place during service via our Explorers (Pre-K), Pathfinders (K-2nd) & Adventurers (3rd-4th) classes downstairs. We are finalizing plans regarding our check-in process, but expect it to initially stay the same.

For our Commonplace Youth programs, our middle schoolers (5th-8th) will still meet directly after Sunday service for about an hour. Our high schoolers (9th-12th) will meet on Sunday nights from 6:30-8:00PM on-site at Mt. Olive Community Bible Church.

Our Commonplace Women’s Sunday brunches will be moved to another time, to be determined.

Q: Why are we moving?

A: We are primarily moving to better steward our financial resources by both reducing spending & investing in the Kingdom. In addition, our contribution will be going directly towards supporting another local church.

Q: Is this a permanent move and/or church merger?

A: While the move has become necessary and therefore has a defined timeline, the merge exploration is not operating on that same timeline. In fact, we are not restricting ourselves to any timelines, as a decision of this magnitude takes a tremendous amount of prayer, consideration & collaboration. There have been no decisive actions taken regarding leadership, elder nomination, names or anything of that nature. We desire for our church family to be ‘in the know’ with not only our short-term plans but our long-term hopes as well, and therefore we have deemed it appropriate to invite all of you into this process extremely early in the conversation. TL;DR, the merge is still tentative.
